Four women in Springfield overdosed on heroin early Sunday morning after snorting lines of what they believed to be cocaine from a folded dollar bill, a police official said.
A 12-year-old daughter of one of the women called 911 for medical aid at 12:24 a.m. Sunday, Springfield police Sergeant John Delaney wrote in an e-mail.

When emergency responders arrived at the Ambrose Street address, they found four unconscious women, two of whom did not have a pulse, Delaney said.
All were treated with Narcan, an antidote for opioid overdoses, and regained consciousness. They were taken to Baystate Medical Center, Delaney said.
The ages of the women, and the number of children present, were not immediately available.
The state Department of Children and Families was also notified, Delaney wrote.
Andrea Grossman, a spokeswoman for the agency, said Sunday evening that the office had received a report and was investigating the incident.

Detectives from the major crimes unit responded and found a folded dollar bill with white powder, Delaney said.
